Mike Judge's "Idiocracy"
idiocracy poster

I consider Office Space to be one of the coolest films of all time,  particularly because it gives me a glimpse of my immediate future: stuck in a cube. Anyhoo, the maker of Office Space, is gracing us with another smart, sharp dialogue laden release: Idiocracy. The movie didn't too well in it's theatrical release in Atlanta and the studio execs shelved it from making it a nationwide release. We're still lucky as the movie will be out on DVD this Jan 9th.

The movie's cast includes Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph (big fan of her from SNL). Here's a little synopsis from wikipedia to get you interested:

Luke Wilson plays a supremely average guy from the year 2005, who is used as a guinea pig for a government project which places him in hibernation for 500 years. Upon waking up in the year 2505, he discovers that society has become so incredibly dumbed down, he is now by far the most intelligent person in the world.

Ok, the setup might appear lame, but the critics have been giving it some glowing reviews for smart satire and anticipate a cult following much like Office Space. Definitely looking forward to Jan 9th, hope you guys will too.

Just a follow up to this post. It was an awful film. If you were unfortunate enough to watch it, perhaps you would also agree with me that people in the future isn't all that dumb after all. The majority just might be obsessed with shows like ow my balls (a la jackass), but there sure are smart people, call them The Men or members of The Corporation, constantly trying to satisfy your bottomless consumerism appetite.
